craftgrrl | DIY boots + Question

so yesterday i got bored and i decorated a pair of brown leather boots i had bought from the thrift store a couple months ago.

i painted them with diluted screenprinting paint and put the newspaper on using a couple of layers of diluted elmers glue... its all pretty steady, the paint wont chip or wear(its really nice), but the news paper might.. So I really need to coat them in something that will ensure i can actually wear them outside...it would be awesome if it were waterproof too. I checked the memories/faq but I couldnt really find anything (maybe im dumb) help?
