Soldering Question/Opinion

craftgrrlI read it a jewelry book that EVERYTHING should be soldered. Now I’m way paranoid about my jump rings. And to make matters worse, I’m terrified of burning myself so I really don’t want to mess with soldering. But I also don’t want my jewelry to fall apart.
So… What do you guys things? Is soldering jump rings a must? Do you know of any alternatives? Am I freaking out over nothing?
