Customize damn near anything...
Aug. 27th, 2009 02:34 amHey Grrls! Long time no post, for me, but I have been busy busy busy!!
I wonder if any of you remember maybe a long while back, I posted with questions on how to remove parts of ceramic figures without damaging them... I was talking about performing a sex change on a cow by sanding off its udder to make it more... manly. There was a big debate in the comments about whether doing so would indeed change the sex of the cow or not, and it was actually kinda comical...
Anyway!! I've finally finished the project involving said cow, and I want you to see just how manly he's become! You might even say boylike. Hellboylike.
I never remember to take "before" pictures when I customize things, so just picture a black and white yardsale find ceramic cow, kinda grubby, with a not so great paint job...

Complete with goatee...

...and right hoof of doom!!:

(which, in retrospect, I kinda wish I'd made bigger... oh well.)
^_^
Also, he has a fine feathered friend who'll never cry fowl!
A friend of mine is *obsessed* with Blue Beetle, but she owns every damn thing related to the guy. So what to do for birthday presents?? Well, she loved Hellcow when she saw him, so it seemed only natural to scour the local yard sales and second hand stores to find similar fodder for customization. After a few days of searching, I turned up a rather cute little bank that was quite ducky! Yellow ducky!
Again, I suck at before shots, so just picture this without the white painted bits:

The eyes were done by hand staining some clear glass aquarium marbles, then carefully gluing them over the pre-painted eyes of the duck:

Unfortunately, some of the glue still showed through afterward. :( Not too bad though!!

When backlit, and even in low light, the eyes glow! Kinda spooky really...

Hope you've enjoyed seeing my oddball heroes!! :)
