First, remember my post brainstorming about how to DIY an agenda - and manage to get it back together again? Well, I feel that worked out pretty well and want to thank you guys. I had been obsessing over Queer as Folk (US version) for much of the summer and, on going back to school, decided to take my treasured obsession/fandom with me, so I went with a QAF graphics theme for my agenda. It was actually designed to match the icon I'm using here and the 2 wallpapers I've been using for my laptop (here and here - yes, I have matching sets of graphics and now stationary too). The idea may work better in Photoshop than in real life, but I don't think it turned out too badly either.


Front cover - I used the song 'High School Confidential' partly because it's a good song, partly because the scene/episode in the show in which it was used was fun, and also partly because I feel like a high school student (even though I'm not).



I got lazy with the back cover because I could not bear the thought of covering the spiral and painstakingly cutting holes in the paper covering it with my box-cutter as I had done with the front cover. I may, however, go back and improve that strip of white if I had any free time. Also, the pages were curling weirdly from all the mod podge/glue I used, so, when they had dried, I pressed the covers under a stack of law textbooks to make them uncurl. (I just love it when I get to combine my arts/fandom with my school/work.)

Once again, thanks for all your help - and I am now seeking help/brainstorming with a new project. I have a gorgeous handbag with weak straps that I'm afraid are liable to break suddenly and without prior notice. However, this is one of the few handbags I have that can carry my gigantic amounts of stuff (that I need to survive and can't unload (10 points if you spot the Spaceballs reference :P)). Does anyone know of a way to make/buy and put on alternate straps that would look relatively professional and dignified? I fixed a similar problem in high school by attaching metal dog collars as the straps and a bunch of pins on the body of the purse, and turning a plain purse into this wild punk rock one. (It was a great success; I still have that purse.) Unfortunately, what worked then does not work now because - being a conservative, grown up law student in her second to last year of university - I need a purse that matches (which means my old purse needs replacement straps that more or less match). Is this too ambitious/impossible?
