Mod Podge

I am doing a symbolic self portrait for a class and I want to paint words over my image but have the words see through.  Can I use mod podge mixed with acrylic paint? I've done with before with acrylic medium but I don't have any at the moment. I do have a jar of mod podge.  I won't be sealing this after either so I prefer it to not me sticky.
