Please help my project :(
Nov. 29th, 2009 02:34 pmI'm basically a first-time crafter and a at a loss. :(
I decided to make my uncle a decoupaged table with vintage Harley Davidson ads on it.
My problem? The corners of the advertisements WON'T STICK and the images are bubbled. I used a mixture of water and Elmer's to glue the images on. The table was then covered with two coats of wipe-on polyurethane (which I hoped would fill in some of the bumps/make the corners stick, too - but no dice).
I bought Krazy Glue (super glue) and tried to use it to stick the corners down but it isn't working.. probably bc of the polyurethane. :\ It's not even that the images are bubbled that bothers me; I just want a solid surface. Right now, even after two layers of poly, if you run your hands over the top of the table it snags on the corners of the images. I want this thing to be as smooth as possible.
Any advice or suggestions you can giv to salvage this project without wasting the cost of a table, images, poly, glue, krazy glue, and my sanity would be much appreciated. :\ Is there even something like super shiny contact or laminating paper I could use on this? I'm at a loss.
