Last night while watching the Oscars, I whipped up another quilted tote bag.

It’s made entirely of scraps, except the pink satin lining (which is also on the handles, and stabilized, in the stacked coins portion of the bag).

And hey, speaking of handles, I’m so pleased with these!! I have been quilting my handles to give them sturdiness, but I always feel like they might be lacking something if you put something really, really heavy in my tote bags. I never worry about the bottoms supporting the weight (because I make them really strong) but I do sometimes worry about the tops of the handles with wear and tear.

So, this time I fused the satin to a four inch strip of interfacing, folded the sides so they met in the middle, and then folded them over again, and sewed them up. Truly, it’s the happiest I’ve been with handles!

I don’t usually name my bags, but since I was watching the Oscars while making it, I decided to call it “Oscar”.

Thanks for looking!
