-encaustic wax, beeswax, wallpaper, graphite transfer
When I picked the wallpaper, the lady described this pattern as "dated", but that's sort of what I love about it

-encaustic wax, beeswax, patterned paper, wallpaper, graphite transfers
I love budgies!  Finches are great, too.

The process:
-the patterned paper was laid down as my background layer and covered with beeswax and encaustic wax
-The bird was drawn with graphite on tracing paper, and then I transfered this drawing onto the top layer of wax, so it appears bold with alot of contrast
-The wax dripped down the side of the plaque, which adds to the rustic hand-made feel

-encaustic wax, beeswax, wallpaper, carbon paper, photo transfer
For the canary I played with an incomplete silhouette with carbon paper /  For the left one I created a photo transfer of some coloured fabric that I scanned and photocopied in black and white

-encaustic wax, beeswax, graphite, tissue paper
This gigantically fat robin is part of a new experiment, where I want to play with (and build up) tissue paper layers

-encaustic wax, beeswax, newspaper
This is part of a new series.

The process:
-I collaged down the newspaper piece, as my initial layer.
-The wax I laid down on top makes the newspaper go transparent, so the images and text on the other side faintly show through. There's multiple ghost-like images, which show through the layer and create more interest (visually and conceptually)
-I laid down a few more colours along the top edge to compliment the colours

There's more!  But I don't want to overwhelm you with images.  Maybe another time.
