Giving my SX a new look
Apr. 24th, 2010 10:27 amHere's my SX70. She really is an old cranky one and I gave her some new clothing to dress her up.
Attempting to do a Tutorial style post.
1.) You gotta skin it skin it.

Her leather was crumbling apart. And you would have thought it would be easy peasy to remove them. WRONG! I took 2-3 days (around 1.5hrs each time) before her stubborn skin got removed. I used a pen knife and my finger nails to scrap of all the goo. Finishing it off with WD 40. It is awesome for goo removing. DIE! goo DIE!!! grrr~~ this was indeed the most frustrating part of the project.
2.) Do your Measurements

Measure out the size on a piece of cardboard and cut them out according. I actually used Free ZO postcards in the end because they are quite hard and nice.
3.) Choose a piece of pretty fabric.

I got this piece from Daiso. 2 bucks!
4.) Glue the Fabric.

ok, because i was getting excited so i missed out a few steps of photos. Basically, you cut out square pieces of the fabric and glue it in place onto the cardboard. Use Mod podge to do this or you can also use white craft glue alternatively. After the glue have dried off. You can then trim the fabric to the shape of the pieces. Apply a layer of Mod podge on top of the fabric. I did about 2 layers but please remember to wait for each layer to dry completely before applying the next or it will become sticky.
5.) Apply the Skin.

I actually use double sided tape to tape them onto the SX. It is for easier removal if I ever would wanna change it again.

Love polaroids to death.
