Home improvement is crafty.....right?
May. 11th, 2010 08:31 amBacksplash tile installation.
Otherwise known as
my very first tile project!
So I have a tiny kitchen, which means the stove backs right next to the wall.
Being a progressive modern house, myself and my man cook, alot.
Which left the wall next to the stove discolored from spatters, turning brown from the heat, and the paint being perpetually sticky despite it being painted over 2 years ago.
So, I hunted down cheap wall tile and installed a backsplash.
Really, it was the only logical thing to do (plus I really like the look of tile)
Scored 4 1/4 x 4 1/4 matte finish white tiles at Lowes for .08 a tile.
Took an afternoon from start to finish (washing and sanding down the wall, gridding it out, applying the adhesive, cutting any tiles that needed cutting, grouting, and clean up)

~Putting in the grout~
Cost about $50.00 when all is said is done. About $27.00 of that cost was the tile cutter and adhesive trowel which I will inevitably be using for more projects.
Wasn't nearly as hard as I thought it would be. I just took my time.

It makes me very happy.
Up next.....reclaimed tie dye placemats!
