Stud question

craftgrrlSo I've got a whole bunch of beautiful vintage buttons and I want to make them into stud earrings for myself and for friends and such. I'm using sterling posts as I can't wear most metals.
This might seem like a stupid question, but what do I use to adhere the buttons to the posts? I mean, I use fabric glue for EVERYTHING because it's like cement! But I don't know what to use for earrings! I want something that won't wreck the enamel on the buttons, or the finish on the posts, but also something that's really adhesive!
