Apron Advice

Hello crafters,

I need a bit of advise. I am in the middle of sewing an apron but I am worried that using two layers of cotton might be not enough to prevent the cloths worn underneath the apron from staining.

Has anybody got "experience "with aprons? Or any idea how I could "pimp" my apron other then adding zillion more layers or searching for a thicker material? (I have already searched but can't seem to find the robust material aprons you can buy are made of hence my "lined approach".)
