Trying to figure out the best and cheapest way of making a snare carrier for my band.

I need a way of attaching the straps to the drum without hurting the drum or pulling at any of the metal bits, as that would effect the timbre each time.
I was going to go to a local Primark shop and buy some cheap leather belts for the straps but if anyone has a prettier idea let me know.
