a pottery question for crafters.
Jan. 18th, 2011 09:00 pmhi all!! i have a potentially stupid question for anyone here who works with pottery.
my grandmother recently gave me a beautiful tea set that she made many many years ago when she was into ceramics. its covered with a clear glaze, and has various hairline cracks running through it...i was curious if i should have any concerns about its actual safety for use with food since it was made so long ago. i mentioned it to my mother, who suggested i use a test kit from Home Depot to see if it contains lead. we've had tea from it before, and thus far no one's dead ;) but i cant help but wonder.
anyone have the slightest bit of advice?
