Spring Crocheted Purse
Apr. 15th, 2011 06:22 pmHi, it's been awhile since I've posted and I haven't crafted lately either, due to my left hand being injured when I was sort of mauled by a cat. (If you want to find out more about that, it's on my LJ. It's f-locked but if you really want to read it, just friend me or comment and I'll fill you in.) I'm better now and have enough use in my hand to crochet at last.
I work at WalMart and we aren't allowed to have a purse or bag with us at the registers. We have to carry anything we might need, wallet, glasses, etc, in a clear vinyl pouch. I keep my essentials in the pouch most of the time, and sometimes don't take the time, when going out somewhere, to take the items out of it and tranfer them to a regular purse. Or I run into a store on my way home and have the clear clutch with me. I hate to have to carry everything so visibly, so for awhile I have been thinking of making a little pouch, or purse cover to slide the pouch into when I go other places with it. Last night, I started working on it.
I made the pattern up as I went along. Thinking it would be too plain unless I added some texture, I used bobble stitches and did the ruffle at the top. I didn't make straps since I want it to be a clutch purse and the cover seems to stay up by itself without being attached to the vinyl bag. More details on this are at my LJ. here.
I might make a few others to change up from time to time or for other seasons. I didn't want to use cotton or wool because my hand is still sore. I was really glad to see I was able to keep my yarn tension and use my hand as much as I was able to in order to make this.
Here are some pics.
