Spring Crocheted Purse

Hi, it's been awhile since I've posted and I haven't crafted lately either, due to my left hand being injured when I was sort of mauled by a cat. (If you want to find out more about that, it's on my LJ. It's f-locked but if you really want to read it, just friend me or comment and I'll fill you in.) I'm better now and have enough use in my hand to crochet at last.

Shoe Question!

Hi all. =) I am curious about turning a pair of low top sneakers into some slip ons with no laces required. I'm thinking I should be able to purchase some elastic and just so it to the tongue/upper of the shoe?

I'm curious if that would work as I'm not very adept in things like this, so I don't want to bugger them up! Thoughts? Suggestions?
