thrifted cassette holder craft !
May. 27th, 2011 10:19 amGood morning, crafters !
I just wanted to share a small project I did last week or so. I apologize for the quality of the pictures. The only camera I have right now is my phone.
I thrifted this old cassette tape organizer for 3 bucks at a Goodwill store:

I put the monster java can there for a size comparison. haha.
I painted it, and turned it into an organizer for all my makeup!
Pictures under the cut!

It's hard to tell in the picture, but each door is, in fact, a different color / gradient. The splatter actually started out as an accident, but I decided, since it was a cassette holder, an 80s paint splat theme fit pretty well.
Here's how it functions:

the box on top was given to me by my younger sister. The top holds all of my face makeup, the middle section holds all of my makeup brushes, and the bottom part is divided into 6 small sections, which hold body jewelry/earrings, bobby pins, and a random assortment of odds and ends, like clothspins and screws. haha.

The bottom drawers hold all of my eyeshadows and bases. The doors actually have a small pocket, deep and wide enough to fit one caseless cassette in, so some of my eyeshadows are hiding the doors.
Anddd the top drawers! As the picture shows, they hold my mascaras (yes, I have way too many. I actually only use the two yellow ones and the purple one), my eyeliners, and lip glosses.
Way more information than I think you needed, but there you go. This was painted with acrylics. It didn't need sanding or anything. I might paint zebra stripes on the back of it, and add glitter modpodge to the side panels, but I'll save that for a rainy day.
Thanks for looking !
