Hairgel and acrylic paint....
Aug. 8th, 2011 11:35 amI come to you once again with a question and I really hope someone will be able to help me!
I managed to aquire some miniature bottles for very cheap, with the intention of suspending things inside them in a clear gel - cake sprinkles and charms etc.
I first thought about using resin but my resin experiments are pretty terrible - we just dont get along. Ive been thinking and thinking about what I could use when I saw a nice big clear bottle of hair gel in the bargain shop.
Can you see where I am going with this? =) For my first experiment, Ive mixed the gel with normal white acrylic paint and it looks just like milk! So I filled a bottle so I could make some miniature lon lon milk (big zelda fan) and kawaii milk bottles. It looks pretty good!
Buuuuuuut....I have no idea on how long this will last. Ive had hair gel in the cuboard for years before where I have forgotten about it and it doesnt look any different...but still. I'd like to take these to conventions and put them on etsy but its not going to be much good if they go all mouldy in 6 months or so.
Any ideas? Oh, I plan to cover everything with a glaze that will go inside the gel - so the colours dont run out or anything since the gel is moist.
Thanks in advance and sorry if Im being a noob - I have no idea what to even type in on google!!!
