Historic felt dolls
Oct. 3rd, 2011 11:29 pmHere are a few more of my historic dolls. =) I hope you like them.

Juana of Castille, also known as La Loca (The Mad) was queen of most of what now is Spain in the 16th century, but, throughout most of her long reign, she was under the regency of either her husband, father or son, and she was long confined to a nunnery under the pretense of mental illness.
A sad fate to such a pretty young woman. =(

"Alas, poor Yorick! I knew him, Horatio: a fellow
of infinite jest, of most excellent fancy: he hath
borne me on his back a thousand times; and now, how
abhorred in my imagination it is!"
Although Hamlet is neither my favorite Shakespearean work nor my favorite character *coughIagocough*, it did strike a chord with me when I first read it in high-school; so it now gives me great pleasure to add this little Hamlet to my portfolio. :)
His clothing is (very) lightly based on a description of one of Edward IV's ensembles from Herbert Norris' book on medieval fashion.

(From Wikipedia)
Nicholas II ruled over Russia from 1894 until his abdication on 15 March 1917. His reign saw Imperial Russia go from being one of the foremost great powers of the world to economic and military collapse.
He was forced to abdicate following the February Revolution of 1917 during which he and his family were imprisoned and later murdered.
Although this time period doesn't hold any particular interest to me, I was always saddened by the fate of the Romanovs.
And so, here is my little homage to the Romanovs in the form of the last reigning Czar of that dynasty.
