Summer 2010 I went to a craft fair with my friend and mother in law. We wandered around and I was soooo good until the end where I couldn't take it any more. I saw this beautiful dark green mohair. I wanted to do something interesting with it, but I didn't know what. Someone suggested I add a thin yarn to it when I worked it to make it heavier and I thought about it for a long time... Finally I settled on black silk, also about 700 yards worth.
Then I began, without a pattern or a direction, just random knitting until I had a square, then I switched to crochet, and then I began to work in beading, which was fun. Finally I ran out of yarn and was left with a lovely beaded shawl. I'm really proud of this project. I used yarn I had forever, picked up a new skill (the beading) and worked without fear.

And the beading up close
