"Siren" painted coffee thermos
Jan. 7th, 2012 06:04 pmHere's the story:
I got a stainless coffee thermos.
It needed a design on it so I can identify it as mine as my man has the exact same thermos.
Plus it needed a design on it.
After some googling, I found this:

From this website: http://thecartbeforethehorse.blogspot.com/2009/06/face-bird-stencil.html
I found it slightly disturbing, which I liked.
So anywho, I printed it out on my printer at the proper size, taped the front with clear tape, and cut it out with a packing knife.
Then I sprayed the back with spray adhesive, waited until it was just tacky, and put it onto the thermos.
Then I covered the rest of the thermos and hit it with some primer:

Then I systematically sprayed, then covered each section.

Unfortunately, after I pulled the stencil off I found: BLEED!!!!!!!Arrrrg!

So, after some swearing, and attempting to scrap off the white with a scalpel....I hit on an idea.
I was going to add some details with red enamel anyway, why not color in the face, and touch up the edges in black.
Et voila:

Fhew!
Saved by black enamel.
P.S. I also gave the bird woman sensible black shoes, because to be honest her lack of feet bothered me.
