[identity profile] star-trackie.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] craftgrrl

I already posted that I received my Secret Santa gift, but I thought I would do a review on my gift since it was such an awesome gift. First though, I want to say thank you to my Secret Santa, [livejournal.com profile] crimsonbatlady. Now on to the pictures!

So the story begins. I went to a night showing of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo and came home around midnight to this package on my bed. My first thought: Canadian! Of course it came all the way from British Columbia, Canada - roughly 2,727 miles in 8 days. What a trek. I was so excited to see what I got, but I was super tired and had work the next day.

I opened it on December 31, 2011. Inside was a letter and an awesome necklace. It was a Solar System necklace. The more I look at it, the more I love it. Seriously. Thank you, Diana. I never saw one before but I'm told someone posted one once before. The cool thing about this necklace is of course the colors and the sizes. We all know planets aren't the same size so to find the right size in the right color is amazing, and well... let's just say it's dedication.

The full view. Notice the planets are separated by black luster e-beads? Totally a space color. Just saying.

The sun looks like a citrine-colored faceted round which is separated by two gold bugle beads and gold e beads. I suppose the bugles represent sun rays.

Here you can see a opaque red Mercury (Awww, Mercury is so cute), translucent blue Venus, EARTH! and Earth's moon, the clear e bead to the right, goldstone Mars, and the tigereye asteroid belt.

To the top right and continuing on with the order, you can see Jupiter, which appears to be a reddish agate-type of bead. Then there are Jupiter's moons. Next up on our journey is Saturn and his moons. Saturn, as you can see, is a tigereye round with a white shell ring. That beautiful blue bead with a brown vein is Uranus and two moons which represents 27 moons. (Did I read that right? 27 moons? I never knew that. I guess we do learn something new every day.) Next on the list is the beautiful jade-like Neptune and one of his moons. (There are 13 moons. Weird how Earth just has one. Can you imagine seeing more than one moon in the night sky? I can't. Weird.) Then circling back down near the toggle is Pluto. I still consider Pluto a planet and a dog, so there. Tiny Pluto is a howlite round. Howl, Pluto, howl.

That's the best smile you'll ever get out of me. Sorry. So this is me wearing my necklace to work. It was a busy day at the world's most hated student loan company so no one said anything about my necklace. But I hope to explain it to my peers next time I do wear it to work. The ladies at work love my jewelry so no doubt they'll ask me about this necklace. Anyway, you can see it's a long necklace and I actually wrapped it twice around my neck so the different colors can be easily seen in one area.

And I think I might wear it like this a lot. I have a tiny wrist so I can wrap, wrap, wrap it around to give myself that bohemian look.

As you can see, I was blessed with such an awesome gift. Thank you. Also, whoever came up with the Crafty Secret Santa is genius. And we all must not forget [livejournal.com profile] ilea for organizing it all.
