First, Isabella d'Este.
Isabella d'Este (1474 – 1539) was Marchesa of Mantua and one of the leading women of the Italian Renaissance as a major cultural and political figure. She was a patron of the arts as well as a leader of fashion, whose innovative style of dressing was copied by women throughout Italy and at the French court.
I highly recommend reading a bit more about her as there are some delightful little peeks into her character. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isabella_d%27Este

And here is her younger sister, Beatrice d'Este (1475 – 1497), duchess of Bari and later of Milan, was the wife of the Milanese ruler Ludovico Sforza (known as "il Moro"). She was one of the most beautiful and accomplished princesses of the Italian Renaissance.
Notice the similarities between her dress and her sister's? =)

And it wouldn't be a proper historical post from me without something Tudor-related, now would it? =D

Inspired by this costume from the series The Tudors, a new version for Henry VIII's wife number 5, Kitty Howard.
