but not new to creativity or sewing. =D i found the comm on LJ's home page in the "LiveJournal Today" section.
i taught myself the basics of how to crochet at the end of december, a friend showed me the double and triple crochet stitches in mid-January, and i realised i don't really have all that much yarn around my house as i thought i did.
i post these in my own LJ, but it's mostly public, so feel free to browse my "crochet" tag. and i have to say, my foray in to crochet has been fun! sorry about the blurriness of the full size of any of the pictures... they look all right when they're on my phone and thumbnail size though. you can click on the pictures to see the full size though.
most projects are done with a Boye crochet hook, size G.
i started with a pair of slippers from zoomyummy.com, and made a pair for me and my daughters J and M. the yarn for mine and M's slippers i happened to have. i have no idea what the black and red are, the bright gradient is Lily Sugar 'n Cream. the white trim has shots of silver through it, and it thicker than the others. the gold on the green slippers didn't have a label either, and i'm pretty sure the green is Bernat "turtle green." EDIT: the gold is kolorkraft Creslan acrylic yarn, i think the black is Wintuck.

i made some granny squares...the pattern i used is at home and this evening i can look and see where i got it from. the yarn is all from random places. the light colored yarn is a pastel gradient. EDIT: the pattern is also from zoomyummy.com.

i made this tote bag myself, using the same black yarn as the slippers above. i'm pretty sure i used a Boye H hook for this one. it holds file folders, and now closes with some magnetic snaps i got at JoAnn's.

i believe this little flower was from about.com's crochet pages. it's the same pastel from the granny squares.
i found the rose pattern at planetjune.com. the red is the same random red from the granny squares. (i may have had my Boye F hook at this time.) the greenery i added in the second flower (well, it's the first flower after i added the green) is the same as the green slippers above. for the third one, i experimented with changing colors. the black is Waveryly for Bernat and the orange is Lily Sugar 'n Cream "Hot Orange."
