So I got the urge to make a new costume for Anime Matsuri that happened last weekend, and I decided upon one of the Sith robes from the Old Republic video game. It's not 100% done, but it's to a wearable state, and I probably won't be touching it again for awhile. I did not make the saber, I bought that online, shame the vibrant red lights in it don't show up in the sunlight.

This is made out of various jersey fabrics - the grey dress is made of lots and lots of strips of fabric sewn together - thanks to the straight stretch stich on my machine each seam took 5 minutes to do (yes, I timed it with a stopwatch, haha). The forearm things are just posterboard, stiff felt, and fabric. They're temporary placeholders. The chevrons on the from are appliqued on, light blue ontop of dark blue.

The long bands are sewn to the front panel, and that's held in place with elastic and attached at the shoulders - the belt is just for show, it's not actually holding anything in or together.

As with most of my costumes now, I freehanded this, which was extremely simple because really there was no fitting since all the fabric stretches and it was meant to be loose. The extent of the tailoring is a couple of gathers at the side of the long bands to conform it to my chest a bit so it wouldn't bunch. I won't even call them darts since they're not sewn through.
I still need to add some more blue trim - it'd be on there already, but I just ran out - I bought 5 packs and used every inch of it.
This was actually the first time I was successfully able to sew knits without it bunching or going all wavy, so I'm very happy with how it turned out. The bottom's not hemmed *cough* but it's not going anywhere. Was simply a sacrifice I had to make as I was sewing this up until 10 minutes before my friend picked me up to go to the convention.
