crochet fun
Jun. 17th, 2003 08:36 pmHello craftgrrl's (& guys!). I have finally decided to share a few things I made recently. A friend taught me how to crochet not long ago (I was already a knitter) and I've been making things like mad.
Here are a few purses and a hat (along with explainations).

I really love this purse. I was pleased with the shape it ended up and the bright pink homespun reminds me of bubblegum or cotton candy. I crocheted the homespun together with white acrylic (which the strap is made of) so the body is really sturdy. I did the bottom in white acrylic also, but did a second layer so that it is sturdy as well.

The colors in the picture ended up looking a bit washed-out, but they're actually very bright. This is made with variagated acrylic in rainbow colors, and I did the brim in black. The brim is also ruffled. This is my favorite hat so far.

I was working on a striped tube scarf, and realized something similar might make a cute purse. So, I broke out the bright oranges and crocheted a tube, then crocheted the bottom together and added fringe. After that, I did a bit more of the orange around the top, and did the strap. I really like how it turned out. Very bright and summery!
Thanks, everyone! You're all such an inspiration and this is by far my favorite community.
