Binder materials?
Jul. 1st, 2003 10:41 amMy boyfriend has an awesome idea for a novel and envisions himself scribbling it out in an old leather/suede book. But since one often makes many changes when writing something of that magnitude he needs to be able to add and remove the pages as he pleases, like you can with a 3-ring binder. Unfortunately all the books I can find with the physical description he has in mind are bound and therefore not refillable. So I’m considering making it myself.
My question is, is it possible to buy the materials for a 3-ring binder so that I may make my own? Or does anyone know of an easy way to reuse the parts from a store bought binder? My main concern is the quality of the rings. I need them to be exceptional so that they don’t lose their shape and not lock properly (I’m sure we have all had experiences with our pages escaping our binders and this absolutely cannot happen with his novel). Could I possibly just buy a binder and recover it without it looking bad?
Alternatively, if anyone knows where to buy something that may fit this description, please let me know. Our anniversary is on the 27th and I’d like to give it to him then, but at this rate it seems unlikely that I will get to.
Thanks for any help you may have to offer. :)
