For instructions on how to make the summer skirt I posted earlier (warning largish pics)...

Cut 2 rectangluar panels from your fabric. Make sure you've measured everthing. Ideally they both should be 30-34cm in height and the width should be half of the measurements of your hips including butt/bottom/behind. Add a few cms (maybe 5-6) extra just incase.

Now cut 2 long rectangular panels from the rest of your fabric. Both should be twice the length of the first 2 panels and would probably be about 13-17cm in height. Now just pin one long edge and hem. This with be the bottom of your skirt.

It's time to make darts in the first 2 panels. All darts shoulw be the same width and height. Also they should be right on the centers of the fronts of your thighs. Make sure you check! Darts are properly explained here ( http://www.denverfabrics.com/pages/sewinginfo/simplicity-sewing-hints/sewing-darts.htm ) Once you have finished pinning and sewing the darts, hem the tops of both panels (the tops would be where the darts are most widest).

Now it's time to pin the longer panels to the fatter panels. This takes ALOT of pins so make sure you have enough. Gather up the longer panels as you pin. Then sew.

Place both finished sides atop of another (the outer sides should face each other). Stitch all along one side and then halfway from the bottom to the middle of the other. Leave about 2 cms left over. This gap in the side will be for the zip/zipper.

Sew on the zip. I'm pretty crap at explaining how to do this so... ( http://www.livejournal.com/community/craftgrrl/1277758.html )
