Aug. 9th, 2003 02:23 amHey guys question here! I'm planning on investing in a sewing machine. It will be my first machine and I really want to get a really good one here. I'm willing to spend between $200-$300 and I'm just wondering what features I should look for and would need, what some good brands are, and some more tips if you have them. I'm planning on teaching myself how to sew because i already got knitting and all sorts of other fun craft stuff down pat. I also have a few things that I put together for my room and I just felt like sharing.

This is actually two sets of hook bars that I purchased at Ikea and I just mounted them on the wall. Then I got some clothesline which I purchased at Walmart and I mad a firm knot on the first hook and just looped to the other bar and back and it made a cute little picture hanging area under my cork board. I also purchased some wooden clothes pins and I super glued these cute little words on them. I got the words from Hobby Lobby...I'm not exactly sure what they're called...they're in the button section but they have flat backs...

I have this one that says family and I have a picture of my grandma and I hanging from it. I have one that says Prom and I have a picture of my prom date there...it's cute.

This is just an idea I had because I got a wooden coat hanger for behind my door and I wanted to make it match my room. Since right now I have a stars and moon theme going on and I have a cute little border I noticed that it was just the right size to fit on my new hanger (most room borders will work!). So, I took the pegs off and I painted the whole thing in a metalic blue and let it dry. Then I applied the border. I cut where the holes for the pegs were and I glued em back in. Fast little project.

This is a wooden picture frame purchased at Ikea in a set of 3. I just painted it with a metalic blue and then dry brushed a golden color over it to give it some character. I added a little sticker I found in the scrapbooking dept at Hobby Lobby and put an old card from my graduation party in there!

This is just an awesome awesome bag that I purchased today and I had to share it because it's uber cute. I'm using it as a purse right now. But, I also have a question...does anyone know where I can get some good purse patterns. I collect bags and shoes and I'm planning on making my own purses now! Thanks!
