Hideous Celing Tiles

I just moved into a better area of town, but our new place has a hideous suspended office-tile ceiling- ICK! one friend suggested using prettily-dyed cheesecloth looped over bamboo to conceal it, but i would need A LOT of fabric for the whole apartment. i saw some sisal-type mats at a local bar they had stapled to their ceiling and I wondered if anyone would know what type of substance would be best for something like that.

Otherwise, any other crafty ideas for covering this atrocious ceiling would be met with glee.

I didn't see anything about this in the FAQ, so please direct me if this is already there. I did see stuff about Dumpster Diving, and wanted to let anyone in the S.E. Wisconsin area know that Madison, WI is GREAT for finding stuff on the street every Aug 14th and 15th, when all the leases are up. This week!
