s.o.s., very emergency!

hello!
one of my closest friends is leaving in a few weeks for college, for a really intense program (six days a week, eight hours a day) that will enable her to get a degree in about four months.
anyway, i have hollowed out a thick, old hardback book to make an emergency survival kit. i am including a pack of her favourite cigarettes (cigs in a survival kit...i know, i know), rolls of quarters for laundry, etc, snapshots of friends, and maybe some tampons. i don't know what else to put in it. any suggestions?
also, for the kit, i am planning on making a mixtape with songs like "save us s.o.s." by hot hot heat and "help" by the beatles but can't think of too many. i would be ever so grateful for any reccomendations.
