geisha book / makeup case
Aug. 13th, 2003 07:56 pmThis is a project that I actually completed a few months back but just got a digital camera and can finally post it!
What I did is I made a makeup case out of a plain paper mache book/box I bought at Michaels.
I painted the box a beige/yellow color. I found a book on amazon.com that I loved the picture on the front of. I blew it up on my computer, printed it out, cut the geisha out and decoupaged it on the front of the book. From there, I added the Chinese symbols. I painted these on freehand...I believe it is "love" "beauty" "wisdom" but I'm not sure if thats the correct order. I also added them to the spine of the book. I painted the page part white, and added the black detail to the spine. Inside, I decoupaged on Korean newspaper on the inside and superglued a mirror that I had torn out of an old jewlery box I was throwing away.
(I still need to touch up the paint where the box top opens because the first time i opened it the paint chipped...)
TADA!
