Aug. 20th, 2003 08:32 pmThen I started thinking about Silly Emergency Kits, and came up with this:
My family has an annual fishing trip, and I think an "emergency fishing trip kit" could be a really cute gift. I would paint the outside to look like a fish, I think. (What kind of paint would be good for painting plastic?)
- lighter or matches (for people who smoke, it's inevitable that you'll remember your cigarettes but forget your lighter)
- pens or pencils (for the puzzle books that inevitably go along with fishing trips)
- a fish weight (I saw one that goes on a keyring the other day - the perfect size)
- a roll-up measuring tape (good for acurately displaying the size of "the one that got away")
- wet-wipes ("fish-guts" - 'nuf said)
- Bottle opener
- Band-aids (for those owies caused by fish-hooks)
- Sample bottle of sunscreen, maybe?
- Aspirin or non-aspirin (somebody on the boat ALWAYS gets a headache)
(other ideas?)
I was also thinking of things that you could put in a "New Baby Emergency Kit", "Back to School Emergency Kit", "First trip to camp" kit (my daughter just went to camp for the first time so this came to mind). Basically, I was thinking of colorfully painted containers of stuff for "life's little emergencies".
I thought it was a cute idea, so I thought I'd share. If anyone does anything like this, I'd love to see the results. If I happen to get around to doing it, I'll be sure to tell y'all all about it. :)
