cutting t-shirt material

I'v a question that I'm sure someone out there knows the answer to - if I cut the bottom off a t-shirt and just leave it like that, I know it will curl up but will there be a point at which it'll stop curling up or it will just annoy me to no end? I bought a baseball-type t-shirt from homestarrunner.com (of the Teen Girl Squad - woohoo!) but it's too long and I'm thinking the raw-cut bottom hem (?) will compliment it anyway. When they are made at the factory like that, are they just cut or are they finished somehow?
