Help please!
Oct. 2nd, 2003 12:04 pmOk, I really really want to make a sock monkey, but you can't get the socks here in NZ. I tried to order off a bunch of sites on the internet, but they either don't ship overseas, or they ship UPS which they informed me would cost $75. I don't want to make a sock monkey that much, but I would like to make one!
So anyway, if someone has access to the socks, I'm willing to trade anything of around the same value. I don't really own anything all that interesting to trade, but I could go and buy something - I can get most craft supplies, beads, or maybe something uniquely New Zealand (and crafty or not), you let me know. Or I could sew something, like a jeans pocket bag or whatever. Maybe you can get socks, but don't have access to something YOU really want.
I got a small binder and covered it to look like a (sort of old-fashioned) book. I put a large "B" on the front (his initial) in gold foil. Inside, there will be lots of different kinds of paper eg graph paper for his comics, writing paper (for writing, duh!), some black pages to put photos on, with an envelope containing magic dots and to put the negatives in. Interspersed through these will also be some special pages, I have some vellum that I am going to trace some of his favourite drawings onto, and I want to write up some quotations from his favourite books and whatever. There will also be an envelope near the front with a letter from me, but really I want the book to be more masculine and practical than cutesy and romantic. Guys don't want stuff with hearts all over it! Anyway, our anniversary's on Sunday so I have to do all of that before then. The good thing about this is it is meant to be a work in progress - meaning that if I don't do some of the stuff I have planned it's no big deal. So, wish me luck! If anyone has any other ideas shoot them my way. And of course I will post photos of the finished article.
