craftgrrl | sole-ing ballet slippers

there were a pair of leather, pink ballet slippers (possibly by adidas) with tan-yellow rubber soles on them - and i'm wondering how i'd go about sole-ing a pair of regular leather, split sole ballet slippers - ie what kind of glue to use that would accomodate walking, and WHERE i would find that sort of sole, or material.

also: do you have any idea how to go about making frog rainboots from scratch - ie from a regular pair of rainboots? the only adult one's i've found do not stand up in cuteness to the wellipet ones.
