i was poking around diy.com and saw the instructions to make a "vintage book box" which was nothing more than a decoupage project using a wood box but it got me thinking..

how would one go about making a box.. out of a book.
so i have some ideas and tomorrow i go out in hunt of an old book with a neato cover.. but in the mean time i'd like some suggestions on how you'd do this..

I just got back from a trip where I collected some bits and pieces of seashells, sea glass, etc, and I'd like to incorporate some of the pieces into a windchime/mobile. However, as some of the pieces are very hard and some are fragile, I'm not sure what to use to bore holes with, so that I can tie them up.

Any suggestions, or resources I might look at?
