crooked thread makes me sad

even when i try try try sewing in a straight line, it comes out wobbly and crooked. (bad thread, bad thread!) so i'm looking for an inexpensive sewing machine...maybe a hand one??...just for light sewing and such.

what are your recommendations? brands? approximate cost?

I need some help. Does anybody know of anything strong enough to hold CDs glued together? Krazy Glue is hit or miss, low temp glue gun doesn't work in the long run.

I've wanted to make soap for some time. Today I picked up 5 bars of castille soap at Trader Joes and I was wondering exactly what to do with it?? I know there are other ways, but for now I wanted to do something easy. Some color, some scent, maybe some herbs? Any suggestions on how I can make this happen??

Hello, I'm new to the group, and I have a question or two.
Primarily I'm a writer, self publishing poetry chapbooks, and working on a zine.
I also cook, embroider, hand sew and make jewelry from time to time. Recently I got some knitting supplies, with all of the press it had been getting, it reminded me of my grandmother and how she'd knit these great afghans for my cousins and I. Currently I need to get some really basic patterns for scarves, anyone got any?

Also...does anyone know where I could get free instructions on a 1961 singer sewing machine? I haven't threaded a bobbin for oh...10 years, I have this great sewing machine, but I'm afraid to use it!

I made a skull dress this weekend. I was busy. I am very happy with the way it turned out, though you can't really tell how nice it is because the picture sucks.

I made a simple bag out of some old brown material i had and then i decorated it with some old green buttons. i loooove old buttons; my mother has a big box of great buttons just waiting to be used.
