I love my momma. Since I don't really knit, I convinced my momma to make me a kitty hat. I only got to pick from the yarn she had, but I like it.

gah. im finally mostly finished knitting this bear hat. it didnt take me very long but i pretty much finished it in one sitting and when i was putting it together it drove me insane. i still might add some ear flaps to it, but i dont know :> i pretty much winged it and it ended up being the perfect size.

here it is:

knitted with brown varrigated boucle yarn and a size 6 circular needle.

bah!

Pysanky, also known as Ukranian Easter eggs, are surprisingly easy to make and extremely fun. They're made similar to batik in that wax is used to "keep" certain colors on your egg, which is dyed. The waxing and dying process is continued until the design is finished, when you melt the wax and rub it off or soak the egg in mineral spirits, revealing the design. Not only is this fun and easy and seems to be the only craft I'm naturally good at, it's cheap as well. I buy my supplies from the Ukranian Gift Shop.

See the eggs I made yesterday! )

I was led here by my friend [livejournal.com profile] kitchenwitch, who is directly below me, hee hee. Or WAS at my time of posting..someone might have beat me to it by the time I'm done.

We share the pysanky love (I knew she'd be awesome! ;), plus I enjoy doing many other sorts of crafty type things. I'm a dancer, which lets me sew alot of costumes, a quilter, a doll maker, a crocheter..I have dabbled in candles and stained glass.

I guess all the stuff I do would be considered unique to itself. I do not do traditional raggedy ann's, I do THESE. At the moment I have a folkloric bellydance Raggedy in my head...

Everything I crochet usually incorporates beads, sequins and paillettes (me being a bellydancer), my quilts are bright and geometric with lots of primaries and black and white. My eggs are as traditional as they can be, which is unusual for me. But I think it's good for me to stick to tradition with some things, especially ones with as much symbolism and history such as these..although I have dabbled with medieval and celtic designs at different times.

Just wanted to say hi, and I hope to meet lots of new friends!

i made about 50 mini info zines on animal abuse, and how to help it if you know someone who abuses their animal. im just tryin to make some money back for the copies, and distribute them out. its really important to know about. so anywhere between 5 and 10 cents will do. you can email me and ill send you my address and just send me some money, and ill send you your very own copy of how to save animals <3 sorry for cross posting.

I was just looking through the huge Fire Mountain Gems catalog earlier and I got totally freaked out by the huge selection. I want to make some (relatively) simple bracelets and necklaces for my friends and family this christmas, but the catalog just had way to much stuff to choose from. I've never made beaded stuff before, but if anyone has suggestions about what type of stuff I should get, I'd be really happy! Also, if anyone has some inspirational pictures of stuff they made or seen, that would be cool. Thanks!

My mom is looking for oven bake paints (ceramic/china) that are food safe. I've searched online and all I have found is "Porcelaine 150"... are there any others than anyone here knows of?

Thanks in advance :)

Hey! Do you any of you have any links for reapholstering (geez - did i spell that right?) furniture? I just finished doing a fairly ok job on a simple bench, but I think I can do a better job if I had some instructions.

Thanks!
