I am learning the ups and downs of making lip balms. I finally found what I needed to make these and I am learning that, not only is it fun, it is easy! I cannot wait to do this with Matthew tomorrow! He is the one who wanted to make them so I am really looking forward to seeing him feel all accomplished. He gets so excited when he makes something all by himself! We have had a lot of that going on here lately! Lots of crafts= a happy kiddo (and a happy mommy)!

I have found that, once again, I am NO JUDGE of how much one batch will make. I have to go back to the store, tomorrow, and get more lip pots. I only made HALF of the balm I planned on making and I still have enough for at least 4 more pots! Oh boy. Anyhow, here's how the first batch (that I could pot) looks!

i crocheted a scarf! this was my second real crochet project and it went surprisingly well. the yarn is so so soft and fuzzy and very very forgiving. and it only took about three hours this evening. i even added fringe. (yes i am oh so terribly impressed with myself)

and i think ive found my christmas presents this year.

*joAnn has a sale going on...they have a sewing machine for $24 (not a heavy duty one, but not a cheap looking one either...)
*also found a strip of magnets for $0.50 there
*i went to Michael's yesterday in search of stamped cross stitch patterns and found TONS on clearance for as low as $2
*also got a Glass Art kit for $5
*found single bars of pure glycerin soap at Publix for $0.80 (as well as Kirk's Castile)
*went to Garden Ridge and got bags of marbles for $0.99 each
*they also have unfinished wooden yard stakes (like christmas trees to paint and snowmen, etc.) for under $2

***LOTs of great deals....look around your area!!

a garden gnome like (well, identical to..) the one in the movie Amelie...im giving it to a friend for Christmas and i was thinking of searching for an unfinished plaster one and painting it myself but im not sure if i could find one. I actually found one--the exact one im looking for but an unfinished plaster one would most likely be cheaper and more personal if i painted it myself.

here's what i did with those AOL cd tins ^^
the front and back are mod podged, and i glued cd sleeves from an old cd case that fell apart to the inside with hot glue. this baby holds about 5 -6 cds. it's a good gift idea too :)

Hey everyone. All these people posting about lipgloss made me want to make some. So I was just wondering if anyone knows any good places to buy those little pots, you put the lip gloss in. Thanks!

i remember someone posting a link to make these earlier. i love that site and was planning on making some of those, but then forgot about it. anyway. those with fun stuff in them for christmas presents = cheap and cute. any ideas on what i could put in besides candy? for boys AND girls. i decided to do this for my section in band because it would be a lot easier. then i can give everyone something. that makes it 7 guys and 4 girls.

i was planning on giving someone else one of these and something else because he's my best friend and i owe him big time since he gave me the best present last year. that's another story though, just between us and our lips :) any ideas for him? he won't tell me what he wants.

on another note, i found my paper to make paper stars (some people call them lucky stars) a few nights ago and it's becoming an obsession. i'm painting 6 of them with glittery nail polish to make them stronger and prettier, i'm going to make a rainbowy star necklace :) i'm almost out of paper, does anyone know if hobby lobby or micheals has it? i found a site where you can order paper from this girl. it ranges from $3 - $5 plus shipping. if i could get it cheaper in person, that would be great. i've never seen it, but i also haven't been looking for it.

thanks for the help in advance, i know i'm going to get lots of it :)

edit - i just thought of something for everyone wondering where to get lip gloss containters. what about mini altoid tins? or regular altoid tins if you want a lot.
