I'm new to this community. I don't know much about crafts which is one of the reasons I joined. I used to do quite a bit of cross-stitching and knitting but gave that up a while ago. I'm currently trying to put together a scrapbook of all my memories.

I have a question (sorry to all the question haters out there). I burned my friend some CDs but I just despise sending them out with the junky CDR company name adorning the top of the CD and I also hate having to sharpee the names on. I want to make it pretty. I was wondering if I could maybe modpodge something from a magazine or something similar to the top of a CD.

Does anyone have any suggestions for me?

I know you can buy printing kits for printing CD labels but my printer is broken so I can't do that.

Thanks for any help!

I'm not sure if any of your gals [and guys :9] are on ebay. I was farting around, and I found these bags.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=15729&item=2802615332

I cant sew for the life of me. But I bought half a yard [same as one quarter sqaure right?] for a cheap price of 3.25 (shipping and handling included), and I am going to start sewing.
My friend takes cheap back patches of punk bands, and makes bags that are un-common. Some handbags with punk bands on them sell for 50, but she just makes them and sells them for about 10-15 depending how in detail it gets. I mean she does awesome stuff, like a pink and neon green X-ray spex bag.

Also, I took an extreme hiatus from crafting. I know I should start soon though, because V-day and me and my bfs anniversary is comming up. I know some people have had to put crafts on hold cause of the return to school, so I feel ALL of your pain.

Remember not too long ago someone posted wristbands they had knitted?
Was a pattern ever posted as well?
I looked in the FAQ and I didn't see anything on them.
Quite possible I didn't look hard enough ;)
if someone could kindly point me in the right direction...I'm not a knitter but those wristbands are so cool looking and small so I think I could handle them...
If not you'll see some distressed "HELP ME" posts here and in the knitting community HAHAHA

Thanks

Bath Bombs

Jan. 8th, 2003 04:13 am

I picked up a kit from Michael's that made bath bombs and bath salts. I used them up really quickly (the bath bombs) and wanted to make some more so I did a search for a recipe. Though I'd share the links in case anyone else was looking for a recipe.

i thought some of these were really cute.

http://www.dab.hi-ho.ne.jp/runo/ht/howto01.html

i'm not digging the lace, but some of those seem really cute.

my hips are huge so i'm probably going to have to adjust the pattern a whole lot.

but i thought someone might like these, cause i personally love the idea of making my own panties.

(i hate the idea of paying 7 dollars for a good pair)

i think that when you have an image in your head of something that you want, when the image is crystal clear, that the universe should just offer it up. lol

i have made a collection of magnets in my pottery class, and want to package them in a little drawstring bag - could be canvas, could be gauzy, must be cheap. and i can't seem to find what i am after anywhere. any ideas?

Hi ladies!
Help please!
I want to post pictures of stuff I have done, but I don't know who to use to host the pictures online....Any ideas?
Thanks a bunch!
[identity profile] xitsmylifex.livejournal.com
Okay, so 2 things.... First, what are some good websites with lots of fabric that I can order online? Our JoAnns doesn't have a whole great selection... mainly stuff for quilting because that seems to be the popular thing in this town....

And....... not that anyone cares but.... My Martha Stewart Opinion.... Please don't shoot me!!!!! :-P )

I made these forks to leave around in random places with a card attached that reads "You can have your cake and eat it too!" They'll have a note on the back of the card explaining that they are free gifts for the finder to enjoy.

Anyhow, I thought you guys would like seeing how they turned out.

I'll also be posting the pics to [livejournal.com profile] glamourbombs

Darn!

is it kosher to mod podge over paint?

will it pucker or distort it in any way?

i'm making a shelf but i wanna mod podge some words and cut out over the paint after it dries. it's a really simple raw wood shelf.

any advice?

VISUALIZE WITH ME PEOPLE

I am much to poor to have a digi-cam so just use your imagination.

I made a(nother) duct tape wallet last night that so far is my favorite thing I've EVER made.

It's made out of white duct tape with red trim. It has four credit card pockets on one side (trimmed with red at the top). And one slightly larger pocket on the other side. On top of that pocket I made a license holder. It basically has two red triangle slots at the bottom for the card corners and one strip of red at the top to hold it in place. Make sense? The license can slide in the top strip and then it looks framed. On the bottom left hand corner I put a red star. Then on the back I put a little (red) coin pocket with a velcro closure. I didn't want it to be too bulky so I made it a "phone a friend" -emergency-pay-phone-change-pocket. It easily fits about 5 quarters. I'm planning on just keeping $.50 for pay phone emergencies.
On the front I did a red duct tape simple design.

It's just dahhling.

Get the picture?

For Christmas my mother got me some crochet hooks and a book so I could learn, because I've known how to knit for a long time but never learned how to crochet. I pretty much mastered all of the different stitches on Christmas day, then forgot about it for awhile to work on my various in-progress knitting projects. But last night I picked it up again and ended up making myself a hat. )

It's nothing too spectacular, but I'm still proud of myself. :)

Does anyone know where I can find a picture of Mr. Zippy, the zip code man? I have searched the Internet high and low and come up empty handed. I want to make him out of Sculpey for my aunt that is retiring from the post office.

Paper Mache

This is my page on how to make paper mache:
http://velocity.net/~simonsez/mache.html

I am currently using tin foil to build armatures and covering it with paper mache to bulk it out before I sculpt it with clay. Please share any ideas you have!!! More pictures soon....

this is a fucking brillant idea...

I don't know if any of you gals and guys [ crafty guys = yummyness], go to shows and pick up buttons just cause. Well atleast I do that.
Anyway, not to be uber-scenster, I have a whole bunch. I only use a couple on my bag. I noticed they rust and they start to come off after a while. I have a Thursday button that I bought over a year ago, and I allways catch it right before its ready to fall off.
So I have about twenty diferent buttons from various places.
I also save my ticket stubs and such.
So i was thinking of just making a scrap book of all the shows I have been to. I'm not really into scrap books either, I saw one program where it was nothing but scrap books for half an hour, with modest houe wives, and it was just hilarious. But thats my own opinon.
So I was thinking of making a scrap book just about shows. I have old journal entries about how the show went that I can print out or write on paper about how each show went.
Does anyone have any tips or ideas for me? I dont know what kind of paper I should use, because I will be putting fabric on the paper for the buttons to go on. Any ideas?
Thanx.

everytime i look at this site, i find something incredibly overpriced, and incredibly make-able... these are so cute, and the materials are easy to come by and work with...

Hey everybody. For my Art Of The Book class that I'm taking we have to make these little things called "artist's books" and I'm doing one called "Fear". It's all about the morbid things in life... I'm putting in sillouette of a guy running, fire, a corpse and/or gravestone, perhaps a gun, a knife, something about darkness under the bed, full moon, murder, can anyone think of anything else that'd go well and/or send a collaborating image? I'd be forever in debt to you.

Also, I'm making another about stars... and I was thinking of putting little quotes in about dreams and stars... if anyone could contribute anything (only a couple of words or shorter, my area is small for writing) I would love it.

Thanks guys! :)

i finally got around to do work on my site today!

My dad was making spaghetti and I saw the box. (LONG skinny thing) and I was thinking, maybe take about 2 and a half inches off the top of the box, mod=podging magazine cutout's on it, and then making a flat stand (for the bottom), it could hold all your art brushes, knitting needles, crochet hooks, ... etc.

if that didn't make sence, i'm sorry

=)

Hey all, I bought tons of cheapo christmas fabric. [its all on sale now , at least 50% off]
and during some spare time today , made this...
2 fairly size-y pics of my quilt )
Will sew it to the wadding and backing fabric to it tomorrow.
But my question is....what do you all think i should do with it?
Its almost as big as a child's blanket. [but i dont have children so its a bit pointless to make it into that]
cushion covers [my original idea] seems like such a waste of the quilt.

ive got some stuff up for auction! cute colourful and wacky fruits-style stuff (including a cute pair of dark purple and light purple striped legwarmers) and a pair of big huge platform leather boots! buy my stuff!!
[identity profile] bluechaos.livejournal.com
I have a black cardigan sweater thingy that I never wear...its from the days when I was a bit preppy, I guess...
I saw someone posted (sorry I forget who) how they sewed a black skull onto a pink sweater and made it all cool...
I may try that

my question is....Would it be very hard to add a hood to said cardigan? If it isn't too hard does anyone have instructions on doing that?
I have all this plaid material that is sitting around weeping at me to be used...

thanks in advance !!!!
