i have to read alot of design/decorating magazines for my job and today i saw a cute and inexpensive idea in Country Living. it was a quilt made of felt pieces. i think they used 3 colors and arranged them in a contrasting pattern, sewed them together (without changing their shape, they were still rectangular), then sandwiched quilt batting between the felt and a coordinating sheet. the photo of it was so cute, i think it would work in almost any decor (especially retro or modern). plus i think it would be warm and pretty easy to do. felt seems like it would be pretty easy to work with because it's substantial, more so than calico or more traditional quilt material.

Hey! My first time posting here :)

Can anyone tell me where to get loose spiked studs? I want to make a leather headband with spikes on it, like Pink wears. Not the biggest Pink fan, but hey, it's a sweet headband. I was thinking of making a few, in all different colors.

Also, what kind of tools I'd need to fasten the studs. I might not use leather cause I'm not familiar with working with it. Maybe suede or some other sturdy fabric. Suggestions?

Since I recently learned to crochet I have made a few things. Scarfs, hats, and a purse. Here are some pictures of them.

There is also a tote bag that I made as my first sewing project after I got my sewing machine for Christmas. It came out ok, but I see so many things that I will do differently next time.

I saw all these Invader Zim t=shirts for kids on sale at Target for $1.75. I want to go back and get some to make some pillows but I was also thinking of making a purse out of one.

I want to use a chain for the strap, but I would like to have a metal reinforcement to loop the chain through. Any ideas on what I need to put metal "hole type things" in fabric?

Quick note...
any know where to 1. get resin and resin coloring
or 2. If you can put magazine clippings into resin, or is something sturdier needed?
and 3. the approximate cost of the materials to make little coasters..

I've seen in a lot of recipes that Borax is used.

What's the actual purpose of it in the recipe? Is it used as a stabilizer? to prevent growth of bacteria? (it *IS* a pesticide, afterall) or what? It just seems a bit toxic to be putting in your bath unless it's crucial for some reason. Anyone know?

Thanks for all the help, I really appreciate it!! I've been lurking here for ages and suddenly find myself chock-full of questions :-P
