Yay! I just finished making my first two record bowls.

I also uploaded a page with step-by-step pictures and explanations, though I'm sure you all are already familar with this - it's mainly for my craft-challenged friends.

alceria.net/recordbowl

I've got a bunch more to do tonight, I better get back to it! :)

Hi Ladies-n-Gents!

Hope I'm not boring you with all my singular psots but I make soemthing and I get so eggcited I have to post it. Everybody else things I'm odd so it's nice to have a place to show my things where people seem to like them.

Last night I realized it's supposed to be hella-cold this morning and I don't have any mittens! Well I didn't want to take more than 30-40 min to make them becuase i needed to get to bed so I decided to make some that were DeadKittenMittens so they didn't have to be sewn well. Just hold together and look ..well dead I guess.

So I have 70 skeins total of the embroidery floss that I no longer want. I have come to the conclusion that friendship bracelets take way too long for me to make. And with Tristan around, I don't have the time to sit there and make them all in one sitting. Too time consuming. So I am trying to get rid of them. I dont want them just laying around and such.

EmbroideryFloss )

I am trying to get rid of all of them, so I would break it all up, but I really don't want to. I bought all the colors from CraftWorld (was my local craft store back in NY) and I paid $0.28 cents a pice for them, plus tax and stuff. Just to give you all an idea of how muchI spent on them.

Varigated
These are the strings where they start out one color at the top and change to another as the string gets longer.

(2) Purple to Grey
(6) Light Pink to White
(4) Green to White
(6) Blue to Light Blue
(4) Teal Green to Light Green
(2) Black to Grey
(4) Red to Pink
(4) Yellow to Light Yellow
(4) Orange to Light Orange

Hi. I have a scarf made of Red Heart Supersaver yarn and i'm not sure about the washing instructions. For now, i'll wash it on cold and either tumble dry low or air dry flat/rolled in a towel. Anyone have a label around? I checked the website and there is no info! Sorry for the crosspost in [livejournal.com profile] knitting

I made 7 of this [3 for 3 hot LJ girls who I love ]and now I've only 1 available. -heh One of them is on auction. I took the pattern from my GLB issue 7 and I'm going to modify it and make pink bunny ears! and pink bunny ears with bendable wires in it for my boyfriend's television.

I have quite a few pairs of pants that don't really fit anymore. Well, they're mostly just not my style anymore, and a few have holes in various places (mostly the crotch. =-o!). They're all guy's pants, with a 32 or 33 waist, and a 32-34 inseam.

I was wondering if anybody would be interested in buying any for craft projects like the pants-to-skirt or something.

They're mostly jeans, and a few pairs of carpenter pants, and I think I have a pair of cargo pants too.

(Actually, I have some shirts too, but I don't know if anybody'd have any use for them...

Can you tell I'm spring cleaning? lol.)

Reply or email me if you're interested.

When I was about 7 my mom's friend taught me how to knit. I made one horrific tie-like creation and gave it to my best friend (whose mom made him wear it to be nice-tee hee). After that I promptly forgot how to knit and went on with my life.
Fast forward 13 years, a few weeks ago I decided I wanted to learn how again.
I bought a book and figured it out (with moderate cursing and gesticulations of confusion).
My first project was a black and red striped scarf.
It's about 7 feet long and it took me 2 weeks to do.
I'm proud.

I've looked online and in the FAQ, and I've found (and used!) instructions to make bath bombs (aka bath fizzies). They've turned out GREAT except for one little problem.

When using the molds that are basically the clear ornaments, two halves that snap together: a heart, a ball, an egg, whatever --

you fill one half, fill the other half, make sure both are full enough, and snap them together, let it cure a couple of days, and bingo, bath bomb, right? Nope. The two halves never stick together for me. So what am I doing wrong? Each half seems to hold together ok on its own, just it won't stick to its partner. Any tips or tricks?

Okay since Valentines Day is coming up and I am oh-so-far away form all my friends, I had this cute idea for Valentines day...
I want to make them soap, but like personalized soap. I was thinking of getting cheap little ice cube trays from the dollar store and getting them in the original square designs and ones with stars and moons and such on them.
Then I want to make like yellow moons and all different color stars...cute stuff.
Then I was going to take bigger chunks....ohh maybe heart shaped...maybe not. But at first I thought about making them pony bead bracelets and sticking them in the center of the soap...but then I thought they would get all nasty. So my next idea was to just throw in different colored heart shaped beads...plus I just got a whole bunch of letter beads, so maybe spell out their names with the beads. Like loose beads though. I know eventually the soap would mealt down, but I still think it would be cute. I could wrap them up in that colored...or clear...saran wrap and I have this awesome ribbon I could put around them. It fits so well for Valentine's Day. It says Love, Trust, and Dreams on it (I beleave) and the colors fit too. Very pretty.

Also I just figured out how to make those 3D stars, so I might include some of those as well. I made this one from the cover of my brothers Beckett baseball magazine (he said I could have it) and it turned out awesome because a teams symbol ended up centered on the front...really cool...totally by accident though...lol

But my question is..the soap I have is moisturizing clear glycerin soap...what should I add to it?
If I do not add any smell goods, will it turn out yucka?
Can I use regular food coloring to make the soap have a tint?

Other than that I just thought I would share my ideas...thanks
