Anti Shock!
Mar. 26th, 2003 02:13 am
My bf hasnt got a cd player in his car, hence we use a portable cd player and a car tape deck adapter. However we were concerned abt the player getting wrecked in the car so to protect it , i have made an extremely padded bag out of some extra fabric. [yes still that cookie monster fabric, some of u may remember it from the pouch i made] oh and some quilting wadding too. The pic on the left shows where the discman goes in [can u see how thick and padded the bag is?] the middle pic is of the bag itself and the last pic is one of the two "holes" on the sides of the bag for the wires to run in/out. [headphones or in our case, the car tape deck adapter thingy + lighter power outlet] It took me around 2 hrs. All hand stitch!!! Argh...it would have been way quicker on the sewing machine and neater too.

Mar. 26th, 2003 11:52 ami'm thinking of hand-dying some wool yarn i just bought, for a project i'm making for school. i need to do this immediately, and on a tight budget, so i had planned on using kool-aid. i've seen it done, and i don't need perfect results, so it seems like a good enough choice.
how do i go about doing this? i've never dyed anything but my hair before. is there any advice you can offer me, or any pages you can point me to that will explain what to do? i'll be sure to post my results :)

Mar. 26th, 2003 08:46 pmIt's like a year and a half until my grade 12 graduation, however, I have in mind what i want to do right now so I thought ide get a head start on the planning, theres nothing worse then being rushed on a craft job.
almost forgot... i just wanted to tell you all about my bran new sewing machine, 1500 dollers and it has 100 differnt settings. i dont get it until thursday though, they didnt have any in stalk.
so about the grad dress. I was thinking of a 2 peice. I want pink material with white polka dots for the skirt and the shirt is undecided. Im thinking ither pink with white polka dots and a pink zip sweater or a plain pink shirt... I want to make a sort of poodle skirt, not all the way to the growned but past my knees.
so my question issss...
does any know any good sites with skirts like this on it... im just looking for ideas, or any suggestions?

Mar. 26th, 2003 10:19 pmMy brand new camera bag!

Super thanks to
chunkdecor who came up with the suggestion [she suggests making a camera bag using the same method i did with my cd player bag. ie padded and all] What a super idea and so obvious! *slaps my own forehead* I'm so ditzy sometimes.
Anyway this time i did it all on the sewing machine , took less than 10 mins to get the whole thing slapped together. I'm really happy with the result esp since my old camera bag is a boring old black one. This is way cuter [to me anyway!] I'm going to make a few more with pockets for batteries etc. [will be posting it in my crafty journal over at

Hola, amigos! New community member here with not one, but TWO burning questions.
1. I remember reading a post in the memory section about handmade quilts of old band teeshirts and was thinking of using this idea for a present. My question is this - how can I make sure that the quilt isn't too flimsy or paper-thin like, as many of the teeshirts I would be using would be?
2. This has probably been posted about too many times to count, but does anyone have any internet resource links about the contruction of personal scrapbooks?
Gracias!
