i'm looking for songs that have references to anywhere in europe (france, italy, germany, sweden, england, ireland, etc etc etc) in their lyrics.
preferably old folk music or modern indie/shoegazer/dream pop/emo type music.

and yes! this does have to do with a craft project.
scrapbooking, actually.

ask all your friends, i know there are plenty of people in this community with good taste in music!

thanks so much

Does anyone know of a spray-on chemical that makes paper flame-retardant? I have to make a lot of crepe paper "seaweed" for a large dinner, but I live in Rhode Island where the fire marshalls have gotten on a bit of a kick about fuel loads...

Thank you for your help!

If anyone else is, like myself, learning to knit with Sally Melville's The Knitting Experience (excellent book, btw... I've really enjoyed it and it's much more informative than my other "how to knit" books - particularly since the patterns are something I'd actually like to make and use, not stupid slippers) and is frustrated by only being able to "knit"... there just aren't many patterns to be found that don't get into more complicated stitches! Anyway... I found this website http://www.knitlist.com/ListGifts.htm that has lots of free garter stitch patterns, if you poke around a bit.

WHEN is she coming out with the next book?!?!?!?!?! I need to learn to purl!! :o)

...you know those citrus altoid tins?
the round ones?

anyways, their top lid isn't flat, instead it has all the brand and stuff in relief.
I tried to paint it all silver and now the lettering in relief stands out even more. I want to make a jewelry box but I dont want the letters to show.

Any suggestions?

i tried the process of making record bowls without the funky edges and for me it was no such luck. i used a larger bowl with a 4.5" bowttom and 12" top right side up with the record fitting perfectly. i then placed a bowl with a 4" bowwom and 10" top ontop of that right side up in the center of the record. i set it in the 200 degree oven prheated for 5 minutes and it only affected the edges in making that silly flower look. i used a pat benatar record. i dunno what went wrong but the experience was none too exciting for this girl. sorry all. feel free to try on your own and tell me what happened.

ok..

Hello everyone, I'm a frequent lurker who has finally decided to come out of the woodwork and post! Craft is better than sex in my opinion (just so you know where I stand :).

And here is my query:
Anyone familiar with working with resin? I've been wanting to try my hand at making resin jewelry and was wondering if anyone had advice on what the best brands to use and the best techniques, as well as safety tips, to share? Where can I buy the resing for the least expensive price and what are the best molds to use? Please shower me with knowledge and I will be forever grateful :)

Thanks in advance!

look at these
I am going to make one for myself, but I'm thinking about just decopaging the whole toilet lid (not the seat of course!) I am currenting living with my parents and will be for another year, but I plan to decorate my bathroom in the apt I'll rent in words (I bought a shower curtain at pottery barn that has words like "wash behind your ears" all over it.) Seeing this idea got me more excited.

Project One: CD Wallet

Pretty simple. I got the cd wallets at the dollar store. The covers are transparent and not very attractive. I covered one with this adorable sailor duckie fabric I got at the discount store - I used spray adhesive to make it stick, then duct tape around the edges. So easy. I'm going to use a heart fabric on the unadorned pink one (the duckie one was originally blue).

The Thrift Store Booty!

I just discovered a new thrift store in my area (it has the strangest hours, so I thought it was actually closed down until now! *L*). I found some of the BEST stuff for waaaaaaaay cheap! I got everything you see below for only $22!

And yes, those are yards and yards of vintage fabric! One of the fabrics I got (not pictured) actually has already been cut and partially sewn into a dress already! I'm debating if I want to finish it, or tear it up for...goodness knows what!

I'm *REALLY* excited about those patterns - one of them is for my FAVORITE style of dress, and I haven't been able to find a new pattern ANYWHERE. And today I got the original pattern for 50 cents! *grin*

Umm...that's all. This has gone on too long already and I have to get back to decoupaging the Weekly World News onto a set of drawers. ;)

Yes i made another camera bag. Well its padded but its really more a travel purse.

I made a slit in the side so i can wear the camera strap around my neck. Inside there are pockets and stuff to hold batteries and loose change or some money. Good for holding tickets and stuff too while travelling.

I dont know who it was that asked cos i cross posted my camera bag thingy everywhere but if u are reading here , i posted semi done instructions to [livejournal.com profile] judyjudy. Its a friends only post cos i havent finished the instructions yet as i forgot to take pics of all the steps [i took only the first 3 steps....doh!]

And anyone who wants to trade for a camera bag, please read here. Thanks!

Since so many people asked about it, here's some pictures mom just helped me take of my spots overall. They've darkened and so now stand out really well. So here they are!

i'm about to draw out a design for a tapestry i'm making. i'm afraid i'm going to design it all wrong, though. i already have made some lame mistakes. are there any programs i could use a trial of to do this properly? i'm most likely going to buy one later on because i'd use it like mad, but i just don't have the money in time for complete this.

i don't know if this is really a feasible sort of question but i figured i'd ask anyway :) thanks!

I finished the Wilton Course 1 cake decorating class at Joann's today. I had a lot of fun, and it's totally worth it if you have no clue about cake dec. I will warn you though, it's a pain in the butt to make frosting and cake everyweek.
Finished cake )

I just got home from being away since last night to find my post deleted. I didnt know that you werent allowed to sell things in here. That is totally reasonable. But there was no chance to even delete it myself or take care of the situation and answer comments linking to my journal before it got deleted and that kind of ticks me off.

Anyways for everyone who commented on my post about selling bags for money for my college please please email me at honeychild44@aol.com or go to my journal sassydame. I'll post pics of what ive made ( which i assume is allowed) since a lot of you asked. I will answer all comments made on this journal on my journal after Ive post pictures and thanks for being interested. =)
