i'm am totally non-educated in the way of waterproof sealers.

my project for the afternoon is to repot an ivy plant i have and i want to paint my own container but waterproof it so that when i water it the pot and bottom container won't get destroyed.

so my request is some info on anything and everything you guys know about waterproofing something, especially over acrylic paint.

and also, where i could find said sealer.

theres a hardware store nearby, would that be a good place to look?

THANK YOU!

I was really bored with my purse selection so I went to Value Village and bought a stuffed elephant. (My husband picked it out!)

See the Elephant Purse! )

In the [livejournal.com profile] crochet community, they once had a travelling notebook started by a member. Well, it's now out of circulation, and i'm thinking of starting a new one.

That got me to thinking...why not start a travelling craft notebook?? Would any of you be interested in it? If so, leave me a "yes" comment here. If enough people seem interested, i'll get one together and start it!

Thanks! =)

does anyone know where to buy the red-heel work socks to make sock monkeys? i haven't got the slightest clue, and i need them now.

also, me & my boyfriend's anniversary is on monday and i haven't got the slightest clue what to make him. i have no money, so i have to come up with something. we're not too cheesy of a couple, so i don't want it to be anything really romantic/sappy. just something that he might like. any ideas would be appreciated!

I decided that since I've been down in the dumps lately that I would make this a "crafty weekend." My accomplishments so far?

UPDATE: This purse came from Simplicity pattern #8331. It includes 3 different sizes of this purse, 2 sizes of a rounded one with a zipper, and a large tote.

Its pretty easy to make and takes me about 3 hours from start to finish (including cutting it out) to make. Im hoping that as I make more that time will lessen.

Let me know if you have an questions :)

Check it out! )

All I hafta say is woohoo for fabric mod podge! it made my task easy as pie. Instead of sewing the blue glitter fabric onto my vinyl pants, all i had to do was treat the material like an applique and glue it down, then put a thin layer of fabric mod podge on top of the "applique" and work it into the fabric. Way easy! so not only do my vinyl pants have kick ass flames on them, but now they're longer too! woo ha! For anyone else who wishes to try something like this, here's what i did:

i layed my main pair of pants on the floor (vinyl) and then put the glitter pants over them (folded in half) and lined em up so they extended the length as much as i liked. then I cut the legs off the blue glitter pants and using a blue eyeliner pencil, i drew the outline for my flames on the glitter pants. then i cut them out and slipped them over the legs of the vinyl pants. Then I set to work gluing the glitter pants down. It was a tedious task, but didn't take long. After that was all done, I put a thin layer of fabric mod podge on the flame part of the glitter pants and let that dry. they're washable after 72 hours on a cold gentle cycle, but i wash my vinyl pants by hand, so if you wash em by hand, use cold water.

I just bought a sewing machine and I'm all excited.

This is the first thing I've ever sewn [on a machine]. It's a cute li'l vinyl wallet. I messed up the stitching a little bit. Cut me some slack, though? It was my first try!

Here's the picture. )
