crossposted, sorry.
sooo... i am looking to get a serger... i cannot spend too much, but i want a decent one. i am a beginner, but i have a sewing machine already & am pretty adept at using it. i just don't know the brands, or even what to look for.

i have a four month old & want to make a lot of her own clothes... it just seems my life would be easier if i got to know a good serger.

so yeah, i guess what i'm getting at is:

anyone have a suggestion for a decent (not bottom of the line) reletively inexpensive serger?

my date got me this cute mini sewing machine called the dress maker. it is bubblegum pink. so i tried to use it last night. the bobbin is unlike anything i have seen and i can't figure out how to get the needle thread to pick up the bobbin thread. the directions make no sense to me. i haven't used a sewing machine in a really long time and i need help.

hi howdy how are you

i want to trace this fabu flame design onto shrinky dink paper (which i have) and shrink it and wrap it around a bottle to make a vase. my question is:

anyone have any idea how i would keep the round shape while baking? or would i have enough time to bend it around the bottle before it cools?should i try to shrink it with my heat gun (sound like a really bad idea, but i thought i'd mention it)?

thanks.

Hi,
I thought you people could be able to help me.

I'm crafty when it comes to things like hemp jewelry and whatnot, but not at all crafty when it comes to clothes.

I went shopping today and bought some low rise boot cut jeans at the Gap, because I think the low rise style is the one that fits me best. The problem is the boot cut. Is there any way I can change the boot cut to something more flare-like? They discontinued the low rise flares -- the ones that I fell in love with. So...I have to deal.

Any way that I can cut the bottoms or sew it (I don't even know how to sew!) so that the bottom will be more open?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I finally broke down and made one of these nifty vases ^^ My lightbulb burned out, and when I peeled the little metal disk off, I noticed that the ceramic part was already cracked and falling apart. Which made the whole process incredibly easy. So I did it. The base is a cookie cutter, I'm going to make a little black polymer clay ring to put underneath, I just haven't yet ^^

I've got these large, uncovered windows in the bedroom of my apartment, and I want to not only put up some sort of covering, but I've got an urge to be crafty and jazz 'em up a bit. So what I want to do is crochet something to put up.

My problems is, I'm a bit of a crochet newbie still, only been at it since shortly before Xmas. Can anyone point me at a pattern that possibly someone as hopeless as I could modify to put up on my windows? It doesn't have to necessarily be a curtain, it could be full of holes, like a poncho or something.

Any help would be appreciated.
