'Allo my Crafty Loves...

Does anyone know what kind of plaster to use when making a casting of a body part??
I bought regular generic Plaster of Paris but it says specifically not to enclose any body part. I think they're full of crap.. but I don't want my tummy burned off... I'm doing a cast of my torso and I want to be sure I'm not going to get 3rd degree burns from it.
Thanks in advance!

I lost my instruction manuel for my brother vx-1120 and I am kicking myself for it. THe only one i found online would set me back $25...and i also don't have the resources to order anything online right now. Does anyone have one or is willing to make a copy of theirs for me? I am willing to pay or trade.

I made (another) book.
picture - not huge but decent sized )
The binding bits are leather scraps. I bought all the paper on this one, though I've others for which I made everything. The inside is plain white, but each signature is covered in a sheet of korean paper, which is what you see at the spine. I used a combination of elmers glue and archival glue and it's sewn together with waxed macrame thread/string (cotton I believe).

hey I have a question. This is probably not possible at all, but it's worth a shot.
Is it possible that there is a DIY method of flocking?
I was talking to a guy in a resale shop today and he told me about a friend of his who does flocking for a living.
I doubt that this is possible without some expensive machine, but as I said, it's worth a shot.

Tangible!

Ok, so I know this isn't technically ART - but I totally love it. I did this schema for a display case for my lip balm and I totally love looking at something that was in my head and is now tangible. How fun is it to draw something and then hand it off to someone and say "here, make this." -- lol -- I don't know how to explain why I think it's so cool, but this must be just a teeeeeeeeeeeeny tiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiny taste of what architects or other kinds of design engineers must feel when they see something they've dreamed up brought into fruition.

I was working on a cane today and figured I'd take some pics while doing it..
a lot of people are curious about what I do, well, it's easiest to show..
so first, a brief explanation

I'm going to be quoting the PC encyclopedia here..
Pc- Polymer clay- Polymer clay is a polyvinyl chloride compound mixed with a plasticizer for flexibility and various fillers for texture and color. So..pvc..

Cane- A term borrowed from glassworking referring to glass rods either plain or with a pattern running through them, to be used as an addition to glass pieces. Canes were used to make millefiori beads.

after the cut you'll see a bunch of pictures of me putting together my tiffany cane with explanations.. this is my own design based on..well duh..tiffany stained glass :) after it's been reduced and had time to rest, I will either slice these into disk beads, or I'll slice thin thin slices off and apply them to another shape of beads ..millefiori..hundreds of beads will come from a cane this size...but lots of work and pain!
the pics may take a bit of time to come in, sorry about that, I wanted clear pics

How much would you pay for hand-painted notecards; say, maybe a set of 6 or 8?
