hi. im michelle. im 18. i just graduated highschool, where i spent most of my time in art classes or tech-ed type courses. usually engine related. my art teacher considers most of my stuff more ...crafty. even though i tend to think crafts involve fake flowers and angels. i like to think of the stuff i do as art. i do art stuff, i paint, but i use cow bones as a canvas, which she doesnt approve of. so..a few of the things i do.
read for more rambling about what i do )

I couldn't wait. That pink fuzzy yarn took over. So I had to make my little cousin's Yule scarf right away! It's about 6" x 48". It took me a bit over three hours.

Hello. I'm new. Errm, I've just finished A Levels in Art, Textiles, Photography and I start an Art & Design university prep. course after the summer. Yay, I'll get to learn how to make pottery :)

Anyway, it's Father's Day in the UK today and I sewed a quilted card for my father from Baby blue polkadot & peach/white striped cotton, lace, white ribbon and green glass beads. It's a bit too girly for a bloke, but I like it.

I have been reading here forever, but never posted. I wanted to share a pic of the "Pepper Bags" I made to put my Dads Fathers Days gifts in. The shopping bag one is a bag with a felt red pepper glued to both sides to cover the store name. The other two bags are both made out of felt. The larger of the two felt bags has a handle, it is actually the stem of the pepper that connects on both sides (kinda hard to see in pic).
Here is a pic of the bags:

My boyfriend *LOVES* games, especially trivia-style games. Well I found an obsolete trivial pursuit board game and was thinking about making the board an end tabletop. I have no idea however, how to go about doing this, and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions or could point me in a direction. Thanks!

Hi! Im Ashley, I just joined here the other day, since then I've been reading other's posts and things. I finally have a question to ask though. I got some awesome material to make leg/arm warmers with, but what would you all recommend to use to keep the warmers up on the arms/legs? I was thinking about just sewing in a band of elastic at the top of the warmer, that should work right? Thanks for the help! Sorry for crossposting!

Hey there. I recently made this bulletin board for my boss's child. I've also painted him a celestial themed bookcase and this bulletin board is supposed to along with that theme. It's just a basic wal-mart bulletin board (which kind of makes me sad cause these people are RICH and they'll probably just throw out my hard work in a few years) and other than the painting, it has wooden stars that I glued on the border to make it more 3d. The little boy loves it, and he's pinning things around the rocket cause he likes it so much. He said "how'd she do the rocket so good mom?" :)

I've been cleaning and sorting my craft closet this weekend. Some stuff I'm selling on ebay, some stuff I'm going to rededicate myself to, and some stuff I'm giving away. Here are some safety pins, three kinds of beads, and a bead spinner I'll never use. If you'd like to have it, it's yours if you send me your address. First come, first served. I'll mail it sometime this week. Sorry for the awful pic.

I was just watching dateline, and they were showing some good housekeeping tests on various infomercial products. I was enraptured, because infomercials are fabulous. The reason I'm bringing this up here, is because they tested one of those portable sewing machines (sewing genie?) that have been asked about here. They had a sew-off, portable machine vs. a standard Huskvarna. The portable machine was terrible! It went though different fabrics, but the stitches were jumpy and uneven. They said it was only good for quick repairs, but for all your sewing needs, go with a real machine.

Just thought I'd let you know! More can be found at dateline.msnbc.com

How cool!

Wow. I tried the reconstructed jean skirt and it turned out awesome. I changed it up a bit, used blue denim and a lighter shade for the fill fabric. I am currently adding bondage straps and some buttons.

It took me about 2 hours, and I'd say it was more on the intermediate side fo easy...but it was fun and I *love* the result.

Pics soon!

Something cheap and not that crafty, but I think a friend of mine will like it all the same.
And her name is Loan, as in "Lawn".

I love the fuzzies.
I got it for 99cents when it was supposed to be $5.99. Steal!
