i had some yarn leftover from a previous custom order..
so i made this.

originally attempted to make a beanie but ran out of yarn midway through.
so had to undo the whole thing and start over.

found a pattern when searching crochet.about.com
& had the flowers leftover from said previous project.

i finished a very pretty cashmere hat tonight. the yarn i used was SO beautiful. all hand spun. it was smooth like butter. now i only want to use yarn like that. i'm not sure if i'm going to pull it all apart and start again. i didn't even permanently attach the sides yet. i figure it will tell me what i should be doing with it. the cashmere was so freaken soft to play with. i'm in love with handspun yarn.

Mynephew turns a year old on the 23td of June. I already bought him a bunch on *I am a year old* presents....such as a wagon, some foam sticky letters, an outfit, an incredible hulk book (my brother loves the incredible hulk), some shoes...etc...a hole butt load of junk

I just had an idea though. You know how you can go to the fair and what not and they will print on a piece of paper what your name means and so on...Well I want to do that for him. Print out the meaning of his name and frame it. So he can keep it and hang it in his nursery.

Nowhis nursery is done in Curious George, so are there any computer papers that have a curious george background/border/whatever?

Or should I just get some card stock and print it on that? And just stamp around it? Or use stickers?

What would be the best thing you think to do this with?

I don't want it to just be plain paper and have it say *Tristasn your name means....blah blah blah* and have it be in a plain frame...know what I mean?

I also don't have a butt load of time or money to do this in...talk about waiting until the last minute.

So I would appreciate whatever help could be given to me.

I hope I did not confuse anyone with this...

Someone was looking for directions how to make paper star lanterns, but I can't find the post.

I just ran across Paper Star Kits at Paper Source! They are $8, which is cheaper than a lantern and would probably include directions that will teach you how to make thousands of your own paper star lanterns in all different sizes. Yay Paper Source.

Hey everyone..
So after this question Im sure you all will be able to see I am a beginner at sewing and such lol. Okay, I bought some awesome material on sale at wal*mart today, I guess its like monster fur. So anyways, I thought it would be cool to make a lady bug backpack/purse deal with it..but Im having trouble with sewing the dots on..

Yeah, so Im just starting it, I cut out the basic shape of the bag and the dots..can anyone tell me how I would go about sewing the dots into it? This material is really tough to work with under a machine. Im thinking about hand sewing but I doubt it would do as good of a job. So any help or tips would be great. Thanks everyone!

Hi, I ran across several candles I would love to make similar items of in a larger scale. I love skeletons and saw some skeleton candles that were nice but way too small so I want to carve my own patterns/positives but am at a loss as to how to go about making the negatives. I've done some searches online but found places that sell molds already made and none that have make your own mold kits or instructions.

I was thinking I saw a long while ago some ideas for making rubber molds for candies, but haven't a clue where it was I saw that. Or maybe I was just wishing there was such a thing and remeber it wrong. Any comments, tips or links would be greatly appreciated.

I was posting some of my projects in my personal journal, and one of my friend's suggested that I join up over here and post them here, so.. Hello folks! I do different types of crafting, as I am sure most here do. Right now I am in "beading mode" but am a beginner, so go easy on me, *smile*. I haven't had any real learnin' outside of a short workshop on the history of beading at Pagan retreat, and there I strung a very simple bracelet with seed beads on wire, the instructor put the clasp on.
So, without further ado, her are the photos, behind a cut tag. there are four here, 400px wide, be warned )

Hi everybody!
This is my first post though I've been a member for a couple weeks (btw, you all are amazing, i can only hope i will someday attain your craftiness). Anyway, my grandmother's 86th birthday is coming up and I wanted to organize her old recipes. Right now, we have them in a flip-book picture album. What I was thinking I wanted to do was re-write or type them out (the ink is beginning to fade). I still want to include the original, written recipes in the book or box. Any ideas?
I looked in the memories section and could only find actual recipes (i'm going to make those cadbury creme eggs too!) Any ideas are greatly appreciated. And I hope (once i get my digital camera working) to post pictures when I'm done (yes, not finished but done as in baking...cuz they're recipes!..i have the lamest sense of humor)
Thanks!!

Wax on pot

How do I get the wax out of the pot I used to burn wax? I want to use a different color and scent, so I don't want the old color getting mixed in with it.

Okay, I've been looking through old posts and the FAQ for an hour now so I'm just going to ask...

Someone made a post a while back about these earrings she bought online and made wine glass charms out of. Also, she displayed them in little metal tin things with glass tops and provided websites to buy both. If anyone knows anything about this and/or other sites that would pertain, could you PLEASE :) let me know!

Thanks much!

I have an idea.. I want to make my own baby hat for after delivery.. and then possibly some more that I could donate to the hospital.
Does anyone know how many stitches I should use for a proper fit? I suppose I could guesstimate.. but knowing would be much better.

I'm going to make a big wholesale purchase of boy tshirts [3.90 per], sleeveless girl tees[~4.25 per], & boy-cut underwear[2.75] for screenprinting in a week or two from American Apparel. American Apparel makes the best-fitting stuff you can buy. I posted pictures of the stuff I'm thinking about buying HERE.

If anybody would like to get in on the action, please leave a note.

I'm not looking to make a profit or anything - I just think it'd be a good opportunity to get a bunch of quality tshirts for a bunch of us. I just got my business license & I'm itching to use it. I'd just have to tack on a couple of bucks to ship the stuff out to you [unless you can pick them up in seattle].

I haven't decided on colors & am extremely open to suggestion. To get them at these prices, you have to purchase a package of 12 per color per size, so if we get a few people to chip in, we can get a bigger color variety.

Personally, I'm gonna put in about $300 i think, but even if you just want 5 tshirts, it'll help the cause.

cheers!

i
've been looking everywhere for the last 1'2 hour or so, trying to find this knitting pattern i saw the other day.
It was a very simple pattern for a bathing suit. i am looking for this specific one, because it was soo simple. i know it was a knitting/perling technique, and it was a bikini.

help me! if anyone can point me to it, thanks. i was trying to find it on the glitter boards, but its down right now.. =(

a couple very random questions:

  • what would be the best method to make yarn "stiff"? i want to make something with a section of yarn that kind of spikes up like a patch of grass and have no idea how to make the yarn stand up. :)

  • other question: what would be the best writing utensil for signing/numbering photographic prints? i don't want to muck 'em all up or use something that would damage the paper or smear, so any advice would be very helpful.

thanks!

Honest opinions on this thing before I tell you guys what I used to make it. I should have taken a before picture of that part of the bathroom before taking the after picture but just imagine a mess of a bathroom...well a female's side of the bathroom.

Hey, I was bored! I'll post below on what I did if anyone is interested but I want to know if it looks silly or not...although it does hold a bunch of my things...
